Each day is full of new lessons to learn, victories to celebrate, and mistakes to keep one humble {oh, and teach us a thing or two}. I’ve been quiet this week, it started with a 2-day migraine and the rest has been the worst case of insomnia I’ve ever had for a week straight. At my age, 2-4 hours a night is not going to cut it. I had to use what reliable mental energy I had for feeding my family, leading my small group, etc. I just didn’t trust my sleep-deprived mind to put the thoughts out coherently.
So, I am not going to skip the posts I’ve missed. They are “in here” {taps head} and just need the finishing touches to put them all down. Right now I need rest {last night was the worst night yet – 2 hrs of sleep}, then when I’m back I’ll probably be posting 2-3 times a day for a couple of days to catch up and bring it on home on Monday! I sincerely hope that won’t bother you subscribers, I won’t make it a habit. 🙂
… In the meantime I wanted to share a great tutorial I found from Sarah at The Yellow Cape Cod. I love me some black furniture {especially if it’s a re-do}. Friends often ask me how we have done ours. Our process has basically been: prime; 2 coats of black latex; 2 coats satin poly {with light sanding in between, of course}. It’s been great, but not the finish I would love to have…though I’ve done something similar to the process below with another, distressed white piece. Love her work and her blog. Enjoy!
OH, and I forgot to announce here that random.org picked comment number 3 on the Petals of Light giveaway.
Congratulations Angela!! Your prize is on it’s way!
