31 Days of Progress “Day 25” :: I Love to Learn!

As I typed that title I couldn’t help hearing “I Love to Laugh” from Mary Poppins in my head.  I do that, do you?  I tell people all the time, “My life has a soundtrack.  You just can’t hear it.” Ha! Anywho…I’m finally back, sleeping a little better the last couple of nights.  Still waking with headaches, but I think that’s because it’s still so warm here and blasted dry!!! Rain and cooler temps in the forecast for Wednesday, woo hoo!

But back to learning.  Do you love to learn?  I do.  In fact if it weren’t for papers and projects and stuff I would go to college for ever.  I don’t mind research…I just don’t like having to write papers and reports!  I never minded tests too much either {unless they had too many essay questions} :). A day without learning something is pretty unimaginable to me.  I’ve learned a lot through this {almost} 31 Days of Progress.  I’m going to finish it out, I’ll just be a day or so late…and that’s okay, it’s one of the things I’ve learned.  I’ve also learned some stuff this last week of feelin’ poorly.

Stuff I’ve Learned

  • I learned how to make homemade beef pepperoni {without garlic, so I can eat it} and just finished it today. I’ll be sharing the recipe soon.
  • I learned how to make Swedish Meatballs.  I don’t think I ever had them before.  I can’t believe that! Yummy!! {Yep, recipe coming, too}
  • I learned some new words.  I downloaded the free Scrabble App for my phone and started playing with my sisters and my niece.  It’s a little different than playing in person because you can type possible words into the dictionary feature and it will tell you whether it’s a “valid” word or not.  There’s also a “Teacher” feature.  You can touch it after you play a word and it will show you if there was a better word you could have spelled for more points {which sometimes makes you mad, but often is a word you’ve never seen}.  Here are some new words I’ve learned, but I’m not going to tell you the definitions.  You should look them up if you’re curious 🙂 :
    • fichu
    • zeugma
    • yod
    • dixits
    • xenia
    • quincunx {I actually found this one while looking up definitions of some of the others, hope I can use it some time, I mean come on, Q and X???}
  • I learned that next time I decide to blog for 31 days about something I should: A) Decide well ahead of time {instead of the night before it starts}; B) Plan an outline of posts; C) Pre-write and schedule as many posts as possible {just in case something like migraines and an insomnia attack come along}.
  • I continue to learn not to beat myself up about things, especially not-so-important things…like getting a week behind at the end of a 31 days theme 🙂
  • I’ve learned I can SOOO blog a minimum of 3 times a week, now that I’ve gotten in the groove.

How about you?  Have you learned anything new lately?  I’d love to hear about it!

  1. Hi Lisa…I looked up all of the words to see what they meant! It was interesting. (Can’t say that I will remember them all, or “learn” them!…But it was fun reading about them.)

    Glad you have been enjoying Scrabble on your phone app with your sisters and friends. Sounds fun.

    Your pepperoni …and also Swedish Meatballs sound good. I love how you explore new ideas. I used to be more like that…but haven’t felt inspired lately!

    Looking forward to family party and Thanksgiving soon.

    Love, Momma
